The Behavioral Support Program offers services for children and youth, age six to eighteen, and for their families and/or caregivers, in Central and South Okanagan communities.

The difficult areas for children tend to be related to socialization and behavioural adjustment.

The Behavioral Support Program will reduce challenging behavior and develop pro-social alternatives in the home, school and/or community.

Services available include:
  • Education.
  • In-Home consultations.
  • Behavior Assessment and Intervention.
    Work with family to assess child and develop strategies and programs specific to family's needs.
  • Social Skills Training. Use positive behavior intervention to enhance child's social skills.
  • Personalized Parent Training. Service available to parents so they are able to better manage their child's behavior.
  • Family Intervention. Work directly with each child and family to strengthen the family unit and ensure the use of the behavior support plan.
  • Academic Skills Support.

Eligible participants must have a diagnosis under the Autism Spectrum by a registered mental health practitioner. For those eligible, you would just contact the program to request service. A counsellor will meet with you to discuss the program in greater detail.

The Behavioral Support Program is offered, for Children and Youth 6 years of age and older and their families, on a fee-for-service basis. Autism funding is available through the Autism Funding: Ages 6-18 Program Ministry of Children and Family Development. The funds are for purchasing autism intervention services and are available by application for those with a diagnosis under the Autism Spectrum.

Program Operating Hours

The program, in general, operates during the day and evenings from Monday to Friday (weekend appointments may be facilitated if necessary).
There would generally be staff on-site during the following core hours daily:
